Our Vision:

One of my (Tonya) spiritual mentors has this little cabin on her property (separate from her own living quarters) that she calls the Poustinia. It is quite cozy, and a perfect place to rest and restore. Lucy lovingly prepares for each visit, with homemade banana bread, sweet notes, clean linens, and lots of prayers for all who journey there. For those that do not know, Poustinia is defined as “a small sparsely furnished cabin or room where a person goes to fast and pray.”  I have stayed at Lucy’s Poustinia and I fell in love with her mission and ministry the first time I heard about it.  It is really a beautiful space.
When we moved to Signal Mountain (Chattanooga, TN) in December 2020, and saw this big house that needed A LOT of TLC, Richard and I looked at each other and wondered what we would do with all of this space.  The very first thing I thought of was Lucy’s Poustinia. Much to our contentment, our visions and dreams combined, and we both knew we wanted to create a space to share with others.  We’ve spent the last two years beautifying the space and we are finally ready to share it with our family, friends, friends of friends, & our neighbors.

About Us:

We’ve been married for 37 years. We have two awesome sons, two wonderful daughters-in-law, and we are known as “Mimi & Bibi” to a granddaughter who is almost 7, and a grandson who is about to turn 5. They are the sweetest gifts!
We love the outdoors, our fur-baby (our dog), and our motto most of the time is “let’s stay home!”
We’re looking forward to sharing our beautiful space with you!

About the Space:

There is a separate entrance through the garage that takes you upstairs to the living space. It is completely private with a locked exterior door that separates guests from our living space. The space is a total of about 2100 Square Feet. It has two very large bedrooms. One bedroom has a king size bed and a full sleeper sofa, and the other bedroom has a queen size bed and a set of bunkbeds. Each of the bedrooms have TVS, ceiling fans, dressers, desks, recliners, white noise makers, and more. There are two full bathrooms. One bathroom has a tub and shower and the other bathroom has a stand up shower. Each are stocked with all the essentials. There is an elliptical machine for exercise, a TV room with a couch, loveseat, and rocker-recliner, and a large screen TV. All TVs have streaming access via Samsung TV, Xfinity Stream; as well as access to extensive Xfinity On Demand channels, and sign in capability to Hulu, Disney, NetFlix, Apple TV, Prime Video, and many more. We also have super-fast High-Speed Internet. There is a kitchenette complete with a bar sink, microwave, toaster oven, Keurig, and an old-fashioned Mr. Coffee 5-cupper, and a mini refrigerator. We’ve also made sure to include many safety features such as first aid kits, fire extinguishers, ADT hard wired Carbon Monoxide (CO) and fire detector, plus Fire and CO detectors in each bedroom. We’ve got a hairdryer, iron and ironing board, bathrobes, extra linens, towels, a Beauty Rest full-size air mattress for extra sleeping space, a pack-n-play, cold air conditioning and warm heat.

Our Neighborhood and Town:

We love our neighbors and neighborhood!  It is quiet and family friendly.  We are a 8-minute walk to the bluff, with views that overlook Chattanooga.  Green Gorge Park is right across the street, which is a trail that leads to an hour hike.
We like to describe Signal Mountain as a "modern day Mayberry" or a “Hallmark Movie type of town.” It is a tight-knit, caring community where people look out for one another.  There is an underlying sense of genuine love for your neighbor. It is not uncommon to see the Boy Scouts doing service work, the police cars and fire trucks out for the kids to tour on the weekends, and you might even get lucky and snag some fresh baked cookies from the Signal Mountain Cookie Lady.  Many of Signal Mountain “must sees” are all within a 5–10-minute drive from our house.  One website online describes Signal Mountain as a “peaceful suburban town, that is known for wooded hiking trails leading to serene lakes, waterfalls, and overlooks like Signal Point, with views of the Tennessee River. The area’s thriving arts scene includes open-air summer plays and musicals at the Signal Mountain Playhouse, and the Mountain Opry, which stages bluegrass concerts in a nearby community hall.”  PS.  Don’t miss Mayfly coffee!
If you feel like enjoying a night on the town, we’re only 15 minutes to downtown.  From our house to the Tennessee Aquarium, it’s a hop, skip, and a jump (i.e., a 17-minute drive).
Come visit Signal Mountain and Chattanooga.  Enjoy the beauty this “Scenic City” has to offer with lots of hiking and biking trails, local cuisine, and many specialized shops.

In Closing:

We feel called to share a part of our home, what we believe God has graciously given.  We hope this space and time away is restorative and gives you time to reconnect spiritually, with yourselves, and with one another.
Please review the terms and conditions under the "How To" section, make yourself at home, and care for our space as if it were your own.
Take a load off, and don’t feed the bears!!
